A drum pump operates by placing a pump tube through the top opening of a container (IBC / drum). The motor—electric, pneumatic, or manual—sits on top and drives the pump located at the tube’s base. Liquid is drawn up through the tube and discharged at the top, offering safe and controlled transfer.

A full range of drum pump accessories such as trigger nozzles, hose, flow metres and grounding straps are available from Global Pumps.

Can I use the same drum pump to decant from 200 L drums and IBCs?

Yes, you can. Global Pumps would supply a 1200 mm long spear, so you can fully decant the IBC but when you use the pump on the 200 L drums, it would just be 200 mm longer.

Do the drum pumps come with a discharge hose?

Not as a standard. A 2 metre hose with nozzle is available as an accessory.

What materials are the drum pumps available in?

The most common and stocked materials are polypropylene, PVDF, 316 stainless steel and aluminium.

What drum sizes are available for Techniflo pumps?

Techniflo drum pumps are available to suit a wide range of common container sizes, including 20 L, 25 L, 60 L, 200 L (44-gallon), and 205 L (55-gallon) drums. Thanks to their modular design, you can choose the appropriate pump tube length for your specific drum size—and easily swap between configurations as needed.

What is the Ingress Protection (IP) rating of the drum pumps?

Most Techniflo drum pumps have an IP24 rating—providing protection from solid objects over 12 mm and water spray from any direction.

Can drum pumps be used to mix contents as well as transfer?

Yes, mixing drum pumps are available for applications where contents may separate. These allow you to blend and transfer from the same unit.

Do I need a special adaptor to fit the pump to my drum?

Yes—barrel pump adaptors may be required depending on the drum thread. Global Pumps can help ensure the correct fit.

What tube lengths are available?

Standard lengths include 700 mm and 1000 mm for drums, and 1200 mm for IBCs. Custom lengths can also be arranged.

Are these barrel pumps suitable for food-grade applications?

Handling with Caution: Hand Operated Pumps for the Safe Transfer of Hazardous Chemicals

Hand operated drum pumps are used to decanter or transfer combustible, corrosive or hazardous fluids for added caution and control—with the ability to work at a delivery rate that suits you. Predominantly used across the chemical and mining industries, these manual pumps are appropriate for filling small containers from larger containers such as 20 litre or 200 litre drums. The size of the container will determine the pump tube length required, so we provide a range of options to accommodate your use.

Because threads on the drums are generally manufacturer specific, we have different barrel adaptors available to support the pump in the container. Our team would be more than happy to assist with measurements to ensure a secure fit. The pumps we supply are from the Techniflo range, which are lightweight, convenient and extremely efficient by design. If you require a hand operated drum pump, our team will recommend one of the following products:
