Drum Pump Tube Types

Pump tubes are interchangeable across pneumatic drum pumps, electric drum pumps and hand operated drum pumps, allowing flexible use across multiple applications.

Available materials include:

  • polypropylene (PP)
  • PVDF
  • stainless steel 316Ti

Pump tube options include:

  • axial-flow rotors for high flow and low head applications
  • radial-flow impellers for lower flow and higher head applications

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Pneumatic drum pumps operate using compressed air to power an air motor connected to a rotating shaft within the pump tube. As the rotor or impeller rotates, liquid is drawn into the pump and transferred through the discharge hose.

These air operated barrel pumps allow operators to regulate motor speed and pumping capacity by controlling the compressed air supply, providing efficient and safe liquid transfer across a wide range of industrial applications.

Depending on the application requirements:

  • axial-flow rotors are used for high flow and low head duties
  • radial-flow impellers are used for lower flow and higher head duties

APPLICATIONS

Air driven drum pumps are suitable for transferring:

  • chemicals and solvents
  • flammable liquids
  • oils and hydrocarbons
  • acids and corrosive liquids
  • food and beverage liquids
  • industrial process fluids

Common applications include:

  • drum decanting
  • drum and container transfer
  • 20 litre and 205 litre drum transfer
  • IBC transfer
  • chemical handling
  • industrial fluid transfer
  • mining applications
  • food and beverage processing

FAQs

What liquids can pneumatic drum pumps handle?

These air powered drum pumps are suitable for low viscosity liquids including chemicals, solvents, oils, acids, hydrocarbons and food-grade liquids.

Are pneumatic drum pumps suitable for flammable liquids?

Yes. Pneumatic drum pumps are commonly used for flammable liquid transfer because they operate using compressed air rather than electrical power at the pump.

What drum sizes are compatible?

These pneumatic barrel pumps are suitable for 20 litre, 205 litre and 1000 litre drums, containers and IBCs.

What pump tube materials are available?

Pump tubes are available in polypropylene (PP), PVDF and stainless steel 316Ti depending on chemical compatibility and application requirements.

Can pump tubes be changed easily?

Yes. Pump tubes can be fitted and removed quickly using the hand-wheel connection system without specialised tools.
