MECHANICAL SEAL & GLAND PACKING

Mechanical Seal & Gland Packing

A wide range of sealing options are available through Global Pumps including Sealtek and SlurryPro mechanical seals and gland packing options.

    PRODUCT INFORMATION

Mechanical seals and gland packing offer a method of containing fluid within the pump or mixer. Each option impacts the longevity and performance standards of your pumps. Global Pumps offer a wide range of mechanical seal and gland packing options to suit all applications.

Discover the Global Pumps' 'Guide to Selecting the Right Seal' and read about the differences between mechanical seals and gland packing options.

    Gland Packing

This rope-like material is cut into rings and wrapped around the shaft. Once these are installed the compression force generated by tightening the braided packings produce radial pressure.

Features of the Global Pumps’ gland packing range:

    • economical choice
    • capable of adapting to the conditions (radial movement)
    • easy to install
    • readily available
    Mechanical Seals

Mechanical seals can sustain high pressures of fluids, whilst causing no fiction between the moving parts - so no extra power consumption by the pump.

Features of the Global Pumps’ mechanical seal range:

    • reduction in leakage
    • fewer bearing failures caused by leaking fluid
    • no excessive wear on shaft damage from packing
    • no more adjusting or replacing packing

Compared to alternative options, the mechanical seal also offers the following:

    • greatly increasing the misalignment accommodating capability
    • vibration tolerance of the seal
    • enhances fluid circulation in the stuffing box for reduced build-up of solid particles
    • easily refurbished

Global Pumps offer a wider range of Sealtek Mechanical Seals, as well as the SlurryPro Elite Mechanical Seal.

    SlurryPro-Elite-Mechanical-Seal

Global Pumps offers seals from leading manufacturers, Sealtek and SlurryPro.

Mechanical seals acts as a method of containing the fluid discharge within the pump - where the rotating shaft passes through a stationary housing (or where the housing rotates around the shaft). Traditional methods of sealing allow for leakage, they require flushing, and can result in increased maintenance expenses.

Mechanical seals overcome the common drawbacks of gland packing, offering businesses:

    • minimal, to no, apparent leakage - saving water
    • maintenance is reduced as mechanical seals have springs that are self-adjusting
    • easily repaired
    • does not require flush waster

Some of the mechanical seals available at Global Pumps include ...

    Sealtek Mechanical Seals

Sealtek mechanical seals offer a world-first non-metallic seal with diamond seal faces. This innovative design features a revolutionary patented diamond seal face design, with a high resistance to scoring.

The design allows for very high thermal conductivity (4 times higher than copper), a much lower coefficient of friction than silicon carbide, and easy installation.

These mechanical seals have the ability to withstand any aggressive and / or dirty fluids and are the best choice for replacing seals that fail early.

A range of sizes that fit almost every pump and mixer are available.

    SlurryPro Elite Mechanical Seal

The SlurryPro Elite mechanical seal is the latest release from the SlurryPro brand. It's flushless, features a patented conical design and impressive diamond-coated faces.

The highly competitive price of the SlurryPro Elite seal and repair kit, when compared to other cartridge-type seals, offers consumers real long-term benefits.
