Reliable hygienic double diaphragm pumps for sanitary applications

Looking for a versatile, hygienic pump for food, beverage, dairy, or pharmaceutical production? The Verderair HC-PURE hygienic double diaphragm pump is designed to deliver safe, reliable and efficient performance where  hygiene matters most.

Built from high-grade materials and engineered for superior sanitation, the HC-PURE minimises contamination risks while offering easy maintenance and a long service life.

  • Two series to suit your process: FD Series for beginning-of-process hygiene and SB Series for final-stage product protection.
  • Hygienic construction: Electropolished SS 316L stainless steel meets the strictest sanitary design standards.
  • Simple to clean: Fast disassembly, easy access, and full compatibility with CIP/SIP cleaning systems.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

The HC-PURE  functions like a standard double diaphragm pump but is optimised for hygienic performance:

  • Compressed air chambers: These pumps utilise compressed air to move two flexible diaphragms within the housing, creating separate chambers.
  • Diaphragm movement: An air valve system controls the pressurisation of the air chambers behind each diaphragm, causing them to move back and forth.
  • Fluid movement: One diaphragm expanding creates a low-pressure zone, drawing fluid into the pump. The other diaphragm contracting creates high pressure, pushing fluid out.
  • Focus on hygiene: Materials and design prioritise sanitary operation, with smooth electropolished surfaces and a single-piece manifold to reduce contamination risks.

APPLICATIONS OF HC-PURE HYGIENIC PUMPS

The Verderair HC-PURE range of hygienic pumps is suitable for handling both low and high viscosity fluids across many industries:

  • Beverage: Fruit juice, flavourings, colouring
  • Food: Soups, starches, sauces, pastes, jams, pie fillings, starches, oils, dough, bakery ingredients
  • Brewing & Wine: Beer, wine, wort, yeast, flavourings
  • Dairy: Milk, cream, yoghurt, cheese, butter, ice cream
  • Pharmaceutical: Active ingredients, alcohol, chemicals
  • Cosmetics: shampoo, cremes, lotions, soap, toothpaste, perfume.

FAQs

How does an AOD pump work and what is it used for?

Please refer to our detailed articles explaining what a diaphragm pump is used for and how an air operated diaphragm pump works.

How do I read a diaphragm pump curve?

Watch our video or read our detailed blog article on how to read an air operated diaphragm pump performance curve.

Where can HC-PURE hygienic diaphragm pumps be used?

The HC-PURE hygienic double diaphragm pump is designed for sanitary fluid transfer in industries where hygiene is critical:

  • Food and beverage
  • Dairy
  • Breweries & wineries
  • Pharmaceutical & chemicals
  • Cosmetics & personal care

What are the main features of a hygienic diaphragm pump?

Key features of an AOD hygienic pump include:
  • Self-priming design
  • Ability to run dry without damage
  • Leak free operation
  • Wide material availability for compatibility with different liquids and chemicals

How many sizes and materials are available for HC-PURE?

  • FD Series: Four sizes available
  • SB Series: One size available.

How do I choose the right HC-PURE Hygienic diaphragm pump?

When selecting a stainless steel sanitary pump, consider these five factors:

  1. Fluid: Is it clean, corrosive, or does it contain solids?
  2. Viscosity: Thicker fluids may require a more robust design.
  3. Flow rate: How much fluid must be moved per unit of time?
  4. Pressure: Balance pressure needs with your desired flow rate (refer to the pump curve).
  5. Temperature: Ensure compatibility with your process conditions.

For further guidance, see our resources on the different types of pumps and diaphragm pump flow rate calculations.

What kind of fluids can a sanitary diaphragm pump transfer?

HC-PURE pumps can safely transfer both low and high viscosity fluids, including:

  • Fruit juices, flavours, colouring
  • Soups, starches, sauces, pastes, jams, dough, oil, bakery ingredients
  • Milk, yoghurt, cheese, butter, ice cream
  • Beer, wine, wort, yeast
  • Pharmaceutical and cosmetic ingredients such as alcohol,  shampoo, cremes, lotions, soap, toothpaste, and perfume.

What are the key factors for diaphragm pump maintenance?

Sanitary diaphragm pumps like the HC-PURE are designed for easy upkeep, but regular maintenance is essential. Focus on:

  1. Air quality: Use an in-line filter to remove moisture and impurities.
  2. Elastomers: Inspect diaphragms regularly and replace when worn.
  3. Inlet/outlet checks: Prevent blockages that may cause failures.
  4. Torque settings (for plastic pumps): Ensure bolts remain secure over time.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Verderair HC-PURE series of sanitary double diaphragm pumps is designed for various hygienic applications. Meeting the highest global standards, these pumps offer outstanding cleanability while reducing the risk of bacteria build-up or product traps. Their durable construction and ease of maintenance make them a reliable choice for continuous operation.

Best cleanability with stainless steel sanitary pump design
