A leading Australian gold and antimony mining operation in Victoria faced a critical challenge: ensuring precise and reliable dosing of hazardous reagents in a demanding mining environment. With a projected output of 47,000-53,000 ounces of gold and antimony in 2024, maximising uptime and minimising environmental risks were paramount.
An Australian mining company with a significant presence in Victoria is focused on gold and antimony extraction. They operate a substantial 1,219-hectare land package.
For 2024, the company has a promising production outlook of 47,000-53,000 ounces (oz) of gold and antimony. This high volume underscores the importance of maintaining their mining operation at optimal performance levels.
The Challenge
Our customer faced a challenge in finding a suitable pump to dose hazardous reagents in a harsh environment. The flow rate needed to be accurately maintained at 200 ml/min, but also easily adjustable when required. Leakage and product failure with previous pumps resulted in costly downtime and hazardous chemical leaks.
The Solution
After on-site discussions and assessments with the Global Pumps team, we identified the Verderflex Ds500 as the ideal pump for the application. The interchangeable tube cartridges were a major advantage. Instead of replacing the entire pump, only the cartridge needed to be changed, saving significant time and expense in the long run. Additionally, the user-friendly control panel minimised training requirements for new staff.
The Result
We supplied the Ds500 from our extensive stock in Adelaide. The pump has been operating flawlessly 24/7 for the past four months. This mining company is now considering replacing all their current dosing pumps with the Verderflex DS500 due to its reduced ongoing maintenance costs, broad achievable flow rate, and ease of use.
"Global Pumps has been extremely helpful and insightful in helping solve our harsh chemical dosing issues.
We loved the look of the pump as it would reduce chemical exposure in an already hazardous area of the plant.
The cartridge replacement technology means less down time and more time spent elsewhere on site. We plan to use the Verderflex Ds500 moving forward as our go-to pump." - Metallurgist
