(0:04) Hello, I'm Amos from Global Pumps.

(0:06) And today I'll be going over pumps for Shear Sensitive products.

(0:12) So a shear sensitive product is generally mixture of fluids or a combination of medium that you can't mix up.

(0:23) This is generally found in the food industry for when they're pumping sources or a mixture of products.

(0:30) Shear sensitive products can be something like an oil and water mix, for instance, where the oil is normally separate to the water, but then when it goes into the pump gets mixed up inside the pump, pressures get formed.

(0:45) It comes out as one mixture.

(0:48) So you need a pump that has gentle pumping action.

(0:53) These are usually positive displacement pumps.

(0:56) I've gone over in a previous video about what is a positive displacement pump.

(01:020 I suggest you watch that to see a pump that has a gentle pumping action.

(01:08) It won't mix up the product as it's getting pumped through.

(01:12) Some shear sensitive products will actually thicken up as they get pumped and some will turn into a more runny product.

(01:22) These are normally called shear thickening or shear thinning.

(01:27) If you'd like to know more about a pump for pumping a shear thinning sensitive product, please get in touch with Global Pumps today.
