SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS

Submersible Pumps

Submersible pumps are constructed to withstand the arduous conditions of underwater operation. The motor is hermetically sealed and close-coupled to the body of the pump, ensuring effective operation fully submerged.

Features of submersible pumps:

  • wet and dry well options
  • suitable for solids
  • manual or automatic
  • free standing or guide rail
  • different material options available such as stainless steel or cast-iron construction
  • oil bath or dry motor

WORKING PRINCIPLE

A submersible pump, sometimes referred to as an electric submersible pump, is fully submerged in water. The pump is a mechanical device used to lift water from a low level to high, or low-pressure regions to the high-pressure region.

The pump pushes water to the surface by converting rotary energy into kinetic energy, into pressure energy. The motor is sealed hermetically and connected closely to the pump.

APPLICATIONS

  • pumping clear water
  • wastewater
  • sewage
  • quarries
  • slurry
  • mines

Sulzer submersible pumps are suitable for pumping clear water, wastewater and sewage from buildings and sites in domestic and commercial areas. They are designed for economic and reliable pumping of wastewater and sewage and can be used in pumping systems such as pump stations.

The Sulzer range are constructed to remain fully flood-proof and be compact, robust for the harsh nature of the wastewater industry.

These submersible pumps are available in a 2-inch version which allows for pumping wastewater from underground garages. The Contrablock system allows for larger proportions of solid or fibrous matter.

Features of the Sulzer submersible pump range include:

  • hydraulic design with Contrablock system or vortex impellers
  • high reliability even under long-term operation conditions
  • suitable for solid-laden fluid and fibrous particles
  • option for automatic seal and temperature monitoring
  • available for transportable or fixed installation
  • maximum allowable temperature of the medium is 40oC, or short-term to 60oC (max. 5 minutes)
