SCREW CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS

Screw-centrifugal

Verderhus

Screw centrifugal pumps combine the clog-free features of a vortex pump and the high efficiency of a centrifugal pump. The smooth flow and low turbulence produced ensures hydraulic loss is kept to a minimum.

Features of Global Pumps’ screw centrifugal pump:

  • abrasion resistant
  • gentle, low shear pumping
  • minimal clogging
  • solids to <10% sludge, <30% slurry

WORKING PRINCIPLE

The Verderhus screw centrifugal pump operates a hybrid principle of both a centrifugal and positive displacement action. This hybrid pumping principle is possible due to the screw centrifugal impeller and cone assembly - unique to the screw centrifugal pump product category.

The contour and shape of the impeller produces compression, like a positive displacement pump. The principle of the pump is combined with an open screw to allow easy passage of large solids. Towards the discharge end of the impeller the diameter increases and the channel contour steepens - this ensures the velocity of the fluid is increased, generating centrifugal force.

The shape of the cone matches the impeller’s increasing screw diameter, which provides tolerance to achieve efficiencies as high as 70%.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Global Pumps offer the wide range of Verderhus Screw Centrifugal Pumps. These pumps combine the best features of the centrifugal and positive displacement pump to define a new standard for low head, high flow pumping.

The Verderhus design offers abrasion resistance for applications were large solids require pumping. This screw centrifugal pump can handle solids to <10% sludge and <30% slurry, as well as viscosities to 3000 cps. Its large clearance enables product to move through the pump change and efficiently transfer into the discharge line.

The range of Verderhus pumps are fitted with premium efficiency IE3 motors, which lowers both energy use and ownership costs. They also feature the following:

  • adjustable impeller for long-term efficiency
  • constant power as viscosity changes
  • gentle pumping action avoids flocculent damage, reduces emulsification and foaming
  • pumps long fibred fluids
  • high viscous pumping
  • wear protection

  • Reach pressures of 16 bar and/or flow rates of 150 m3/hr
  • No valves or seals in contact with process fluid
  • Chemically resistance flange connections available
  • Tough mechanical seal gearbox protection
  • Low pulse design to provide gentle pumping action for shear sensitive flocculants and to increase viability of sensitive bacteria
  • Verderflex hoses are the longest life hoses – their life does not depend on the abrasiveness of the process fluid (e.g. lime or Silicon Carbide pastes)
  • Process fluid is completely contained within the pump in the event of a burst hose
  • Can handle process fluids with high specific gravity and fluids that contain gas
  • No “vapour” lock problems
  • Advanced design means accurate and repeatable dosing
